If only we remembered who were meant to be in the beginning of time.
In 1851 Sojourner Truth delivered her famous Ain't I A Woman speech at the Women's Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio. She compelled the world to see past her color that blinded them to her humanity. How sad it is that in 2018, nearly 167 years after she delivered that speech, humanity is still blinded by the color of ones skin. This poem reminds us of Sojourner, how far we've come, and how far we still have to go.
